Working Principle
Split Solar Water Heating System use electric pumps, valves, and controllers to circulate water or other heat-transfer fluids through the collectors. They are usually more expensive than thermo-syphon solar water heater. Split solar water heating system are generally easier to retrofit than thermo-syphon solar water heater, because their storage tanks do not need to be installed above or close to the collectors.

Active closed loop system (SY-ACL)
These systems pump heat-transfer fluids through the collector. Heat exchangers transfer the heat from the fluid to the household water that is stored in tanks. Closed Loop Solar Heating Systems are suitable for single and multiple solar heating application systems, e.g. domestic solar water heating, solar water heating hot tub, solar swiing pool heating or solar space heating systems. The Closed Loop Solar Systems are suitable for areas with questionable water quality and all climate conditions. The Closed Loop Solar Heating Systems are the preferred option for extremely cold areas. Because they offer good freeze protection.

Note: Absorber area is the part of the collector that actively absorbs the light rays. For solar tubes this is defined as the cross-sectional area of the inner tube (selective coated) measured using the outside diameter. (E.g. 0.047 x 1.72m = 0.08m2 for a 58/1800 tube)

Operation:
* The controller will switch on the pump when the temperature at the collector sensor TC is higher than the return temperature TR by at least the pre selected (delta T) amount.
* The pump circulates a heat transfer liquid around the loop.
* Heat from the collector is transferred to the domestic water through the heat exchange coil in the tank.
* With the pump running, if delta T is not met, the pump will switch off.
* When a present tank temperature is reached at Tmax, the controller switches off the pump.
